Laser Integrator with press unit

High-tech solutions for plastics joining

The new laser welding system consists of components such as laser control and laser bank with fibre-coupled diode lasers that are integrated in a welding press.
The system operates according to the simultaneous transmission welding principle with high-power diode lasers.
The radiant energy application into the weld seam is done by fibre-coupled diode arrays and special homogenisation optics (wave guide). There are two different wavelengths of 808 and 980 available for this. The power output at the end of the fibreglass line can be increased to up to 500 W.
The compact welding press - can be integrated in automated systems - has a pneumatic actuator for continuous and exact distance welding.
Typical applications for laser welding: Instrument clusters, containers, indicator lights, medical parts, and electronic units.

ADVANTAGES/BENEFITS

Sparing weld process by non-contact, focussed energy application
Simultaneous melting of the entire join zone with multiple radiation sources
Typical cycle time between 3 and 5 s
Plug system between fibre bundles (tool-side) and laser modules (machine-side) for quick tool change
Precise power control of the IR beam allows for a continuous and particle-free weld process
Capability of welding different material combinations that were previously impossible, such as polycarbonate, acrylic polymers, polystyrene, ABS, elastomers
