The Plastics Centre in Leipzig (KuZ) was set up in 1960 as a technology and testing centre. The centre won back its autonomy in 1990, and in 1992 the centre was privatised. The corporate body is a production group which today consists of more than 100 companies and institutes in plastics technology, and also industrial associations from Germany, West and East European countries and also the USA. The KuZ is an independent, industrially-based technology, testing and further training centre. Its range of activities encompasses research and development in the pre-competitive field, joint research with industry, special, innovative services, technology transfer, information communication and further training events and courses in the sectors of processing technology, tool technology, plastics joining technology, material development, testing technology and quality assurance.
