This process plasticizes the weld zone by external heat application. This process is a multiple stage process, because the heating and the joining phases follow each other.
Hot plates heat the join zones of both weld part halves up to the melting temperature. It then returns to its home position so that the joint zones can be pressed and held together until they have hardened.
When designing the weld part the constructor is subject practically to no limitation and nearly all thermoplastics can be welded by this method. The welding times are relatively long though.
